Grateful Dead Fan Club - 1967

Grateful Dead Fan Club poster 1967 by Mouse & Kelley. Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion poster 1967

Description

This design was used to promote the Grateful Dead Fan Club. The central design is a photo collage of the Dead in their very early years. The poster promises such things as pictures, bumper stickers, interviews, and secrets, as well as personal answers to fan mail and discounts on Pig Pen t-shirts - all for only $1!

According to Dennis McNally, “The Dead's promotional vehicle was a mimeographed newsletter, The Olompali Sunday Times, sent out to about 150 members." There were only two issues published, in April and May 1967. The first issue included details of the recording of their debut album and single, "Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion," which had been in the #1 spot in San Francisco radio rotations for three weeks, overall sales of 50,000 copies of the album which had only been out for a month, and “Personalities and Band Secrets:”
