Any Allman Brothers poster from that brief 2 ½ year period with Duane Allman is a special piece. These were the first Allman Brothers concerts at the Fillmore West in San Francisco and they were opening for the legendary BB King AND Buddy Guy. Blues-man Buddy Guy’s gig at the original Fillmore in 1967 convinced him that he could give up his day job. Guy counted this appearance at the Fillmore West in 1970 with B.B. King as one of his "best times." David Singer's poster was a reference to King, the king of the blues.
Allman Brothers’ setlist for the second show consisted of : In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Statesboro Blues, Trouble No More, Don't Want You No More -> It's Not My Cross To Bear, Whipping Post, Mountain Jam. They had just released their first album, The Allman Brothers Band, in September, 1969.
Due to the way that this poster, was printed it is very common for the gold ink on the borders to appear worn or rubbed. During the printing process, it was necessary to put an agent into the ink that allowed better coverage. Unfortunately, the result was a tendency for the ink to offset onto the back of the next poster that was printed. A Near Mint poster like this one will display this rubbed look to some extent but will otherwise be flawless.
